Naming a Limited Liability Company in Ghana: LTD, Group, Holdings and Other Rules
A private company limited by shares uses LTD. Other words, such as Group, Holdings, or Ventures, should still match the structure and business story you are filing.
For a private company limited by shares, the domestic ending is LTD. The Companies Act, 2019 also separates PLC for public companies and LBG for companies limited by guarantee.
If you paste a foreign-style ending such as LLC, Inc, Incorporated, Corp, or Corporation, JRI treats that as a naming cleanup issue and uses the Ghana company ending instead. PLC is different; it points to a public company route, not a private LTD filing.
Words like Group, Holdings, and Ventures
These words are not statutory endings. They are approval-risk signals. Group or Holdings can work when the company story supports them, but the name should not overstate size, ownership, or regulated activity.
Registrar approval still controls Even a correctly suffixed LTD name can be refused if it is too similar, misleading, undesirable, or tied to regulated terms that need staff review.
